Select "Enlightenment" or "Enlightened Despots" from the menu to reveal a compilation of primary sources, articles, reading guides, and Internet sites on the Enlightenment. Including sections on politics, economics, social setting, and philosophy, this site is worth visiting when doing any research on this time period. Most noteworthy are the primary source documents, including selections from writers such as Voltaire and Adam Smith. This site is an extensive tool for enriching Chapter 35: The Enlightenment.
Created by Washington State University as an online supplement for its courses, this site includes a learning module on the Enlightenment. Several topics such as 17th-century Enlightenment thought, Descartes, Rousseau, and the status of women during the Enlightenment are described on detailed pages. Scroll down to find the module on the Enlightenment. Once inside, click on "Contents" under the left-hand "Browse" menu to view your choices.
